Baton Rouge Fire Department Leads Advanced Driver Training
to the State of Louisiana by Partnering with Simulation Technology

Baton Rouge, LA - February 08, 2010 -
Over the last firve years the City of Baton Rouge has made great strides to become a leading technology hub in the Southern states of the U.S.  The Baton Rouge Fire Department (BRFD) is supporting the city's efforts by integrating a market-leading, cutting edge driving simulation technology into their current driver training program.

BRFD's latest technological addition to their driving programs is a twenty foot mobileBR_20ftTrailer_newsART_web.pngclassroom/trailer housing a Fire Apparatus Driving Simulation System developed by Simulation Technology.  It provides BRFD with a real cockpit and integrates the vehicle's exact dynamics and geometry to creat an actual view of the entire vehicle cockpit.  While driving the simulator, the students are fully immersed in the driving experience, with "the feel of the road" being provided by low frequency vibration generators, advanced steering feedback controls, and even ABS braking.

BRFD's Training Chief Bradley Ricks mentioned, "Being able to partner with the Simulation Technology Team and implement their driving sim technology, which fits the needs fo the Baton Rouge Fire Department, is a solid move in establishing a stellar drivers training program for our fire fighters.  As professional trainers, we also realize the importance of having a skilled, experienced team that has the passion to develop and grow this technology program to its full capability."

Darren Basch, Sim Tech's EVP of Sales & Marketing, states: "The Baton Rouge Fire Department brings an incredible team of experts and professionals to our technology business roundtable.  Our product development capabilities will definitely flourish with their teamwork."

Training Chief Ricks also remarked, "The Driving Simulation Program will not only benefit our fire fighters and city's first responders, but it will also be available for community outreach programs for teenagers and defensive driving.  Its mobile capability, being in a trailer, allows us to bring the technology to those in need. This program has the capability to impact the whole city creating a safer community for all."

The training officers and the fire chief of BRFD expect an immedicate impact in their drivers' awareness and attitude towards safety.  The Baton Rouge Fire Department and Simulation Technology look forward in sharing their successes with the City of Baton Rouge and the State of Louisianna.
